ALL CLASSES 

Training dogs should be fun and positive for both owners and dogs. Classes emphasize team work and increasing joy in dog ownership.  My unique training style is easily tailored to help you obtain your goals.  Training methods are as varied as the dogs.  Play, food and positive motivation are high priority.  Whether your goal is to have your dog walk nicely on leash or if you are heading to the obedience ring, you will get a great start here. 

Please preregister for classes.  Class sizes are kept small to make sure you get personalized attention.  They often fill up quickly so call to reserve your spot or to get on a waiting list.  

Classes are held in my indoor training area.  You should come prepared with lots of treats for your dog and good shoes on your feet. Wear some layers in the winter months.  If the weather is exceptionally cold or hot or the roads are bad we likely will postpone classes.  Classes run about an hour unless otherwise specified. 

 

Basic obedience


This basic 6-week class will cover basic manners, leash walking, sit, down, stay and come.  This is the foundation for higher levels.  This class appropriate for a puppy that knows nothing or an adult dog that just needs to brush up their skills. $95

Star puppy class 

This 6 week class will cover all of the basics outlined in the American Kennel Club STAR Puppy Program.  It will help you and your puppy get off on the right foot.  We will cover manners and some of the basics.  At the end of this class you will be ready to take the test to earn your STAR Puppy award, however it is not required.  For more information you may visit  https://www.akc.org/puppies/training/star/ $95

ADVANCED BEGINNER and INTRO RALLY


This 6 week class is for the dog who already knows the basics but who need some brush up. Your dog does not have to be perfect on these skills to have fun learning the basics of Rally and firming up what they already know. We will learn fronts, finishes, and start testing the dogs understanding of what we are asking them to do. You will be introduced to Rally signs. Most students are able to do a basic course at the end of class. $95


cd prep and attention
This 8 week class will teach you the basics of getting your dog ready for the obedience ring. We will focus on getting better attention in all aspects of your performance. We will proof all exercises and strengthen your handling skills. Dogs should be proficient at the basics and ready to go on to the polishing to make you ring ready. The skills you learn here will prepare you to enter AKC Novice Obedience and earn legs towards your Companion Dog title. If this is your first time in the ring or if you are experienced but need proofing, this is a great class for you. $95
 

tracking classes
Tracking classes are offered as private or semi-private only. They focus on starting dogs to track in preparation for a Tracking Dog test. No experience is necessary and old and young dogs will enjoy learning this skill. Be prepared to be amazed by what your dog already knows. Please call for pricing.


private classes
Some dogs and owners prefer private classes. This class offers scheduling flexibility and the classes can address your dog’s specific needs. In private classes we can work on problem behaviors or on more focused training needs. You can take a single lesson or get a discount by buying a block of 6 lessons. We can also mix and match a little. You want to try everything? We can come up with a program where you will do a couple weeks of tracking, some rally and maybe even some agility basics. Private classes can be a lot of fun. $50/class or $200 for 6 classes.

 

Board and Train
There is so much bonding that goes on during the training process we really encourage you to train your own dog. But occasionally a dog really needs the help of a Board and Train situation. In most cases dogs are required to stay at the kennel a minimum of a month. Please contact Hot Cha Kennels for details on this if you feel this is something your dog may require.
